IconCloak — Privacy Policy
This policy covers IconCloak for Mac, IconCloak for Windows and IconCloak Lite (Mac). IconCloak Lite only does the first thing listed below (Cloak).
None of these apps collects, transmits or shares any personal information, and none of them connects to the internet. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The "User guide" link simply opens this website in your web browser.
On a Mac
Everything happens on your Mac:
- Cloak switches your Mac's own "Show Items on Desktop" and widget settings on or off.
- Backdrops you add are copied into IconCloak's own storage on your Mac, so they keep working if you move the original.
- Sweep moves files from your Desktop into a folder you can see, only when you ask it to (or, if you turn it on, when a new screenshot appears). It never deletes anything, and Undo puts things back. It can only reach your Desktop after you give permission.
On Windows
Everything happens on your PC:
- Cloak switches Windows' own "Show desktop icons" setting on or off.
- Present shows a backdrop window behind your other windows and, if you choose, minimises your other apps, then restores them. Your wallpaper is never changed.
- Backdrops you add are copied into IconCloak's own storage on your PC, so they keep working if you move the original.
- Sweep moves items from your desktop into a folder you can see, only when you ask it to. It never deletes anything, and Undo puts things back. If you turn on screenshot sorting, new files in Pictures › Screenshots and Videos › Screen Recordings are moved into a folder for each month.
- Settings, such as your shortcuts and backdrops, are saved on your PC and nowhere else.
